Montgomery County Public Schools does not assign students to schools by neighborhood name or zip code. Assignment is by specific street address, within a system of feeder patterns called clusters. Each cluster is organized around a high school, with middle and elementary schools feeding into it from defined geographic areas.

What this means in practice: two homes on the same street in Gaithersburg can sometimes fall into different elementary school attendance zones. A home in Kentlands and a home two blocks into a neighboring subdivision may have different feeder patterns.
